2009: A remarkable year for Indian cricket

It was a truly memorable year for Indian cricket.

The elevation to the top spot in the ICC Test rankings was easily the highlight but there were other achievements and many personal landmarks that brought cheer to the Indian cricket fans.

The year started with India ranked third behind Australia and South Africa. But with South Africa getting the better of Australia 'Down Under', they took over at the top while India's improved showing saw them move to second position while Australia slipped to third.
