These are people who have done their best. Some are greats. But if they are seen again on the playing field in the IPL, it will be an indictment of everyone connected with the IPL. Here’s why.
1. Subramaniam Badrinath
Can't score quickly. Ageing. Misfit in the shortest version of the game. Plus, he can't get picked anyway in any serious match. Badri belongs in the Ranji Trophy where his presence can be hugely beneficial to youngsters. In the IPL, he's like a dodo.
2. Sachin Tendulkar
He doesn't need this anymore. Can only get worse from here on. Plus, his team barely misses his contribution on the field when he isn't playing. He still is very good with tips and is probably best suited to be mentor of the Mumbai Indians henceforth.
3. Ricky Ponting
Nothing left in the tank. Been there. Done it. Seen it. Plus, he was more comfortable dropping himself from the team. Has absolutely no reason to diminish his aura in a bang-bang exhibition version of a game that was religion to him.
