Cricket and Indians are a perfect fit for many reasons.
Here are seven of them…
1. Our real life is complicated too
The average Indian leads a mighty complicated life. There are so many bills to pay and EMIs to keep track of. Then there are those complicated salaries with their myriad components along with a confusing net, gross and CTC. The taxation laws aren't among the easiest either.
Every decision from marrying to accepting a job is complicated and has many continuously changing variables.
The game of cricket is also like that. At one level it is a statistical nightmare and at another level it matches perfectly with our real life figures. For the team scores there's current run rate, asking rate with those confusing batting, mandatory and bowling powerplays.
Every batsman has runs, centuries, batting averages, strike rates and the like. Similar figures for the bowlers. Then there are all the wagon wheels, sky scrapers and bowling maps: All in all a very complex game.
Football in comparison is so simple and it is no wonder we are so good at mathematics!
