1. Shastri-Yuvraj: In 1985, Ravi Shastri hit a hapless Tilak Raj for six sixes in an over in a first class match. He was the first Indian to do so. 22 years later, this feat would be replicated by another Indian - Yuvraj Singh - in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Now what are the chances that the first Indian to do so would be the commentator in the exact same over that the second Indian did it? That’s exactly what happened. Shastri cheered Yuvi and his screaming “Full Monty” still rings in our ears!
2. Sir Ravindra Jadeja: The villain of the 2009 T20 World Cup. He played so slowly that most Indian cricketing fans called for retiring him altogether from the T20 format! But captain MS Dhoni, for whatever reason, persisted with him.
Cut to the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy final. It got reduced to a T20 game, the very format that Sir Jadeja was derided for. And what happened? He scored a crucial 33 runs in a low scoring match and took 2 wickets to become man of the match.
Jadeja was also banned in one IPL season to emerge as a million dollar boy in another! The icing on the cake was when he became the ICC No. 1 bowler in the ODI rankings.
