Captain Michael Clarke has said no Australian batsman is guaranteed a spot in the Test team, adding no player is restricted to a certain position in the team and only form would decide the batting order.
Asked if Ed Cowan and David Warner were locked in as an opening combination for the foreseeable future, Clarke made it clear performances would dictate selection, News.com.au reports.
Clarke said in regards to the batting order, he doesn't think anybody's restricted to a certain position, adding it's great everybody in the top order had opened for Australia.
Clarke added it's a positive for them that they have plenty of options there and it really means they should be very good against new-ball bowling which is a great positive for their team.
The captain further said Shane Watson is a very good player and he would have success no matter where he plays.
Cowan has played beautifully at the start of this tour and done everything in his power to keep his position, and Warner had a fantastic Australian summer, Clarke added.
Clarke said Hughes has also done really well, adding it's never personal, and it's never about the individual player but about the team winning. (ANI)
