Srinivas Venkataraghavan
To be dumped from the India Test team at 27 and then recalled at 37 is no mean thing. But that is what happened to Venkataraghavan. In 1990 he was called for a tour to the West Indies, where he bowled in tandem with L Sivaramakrishnan and Maninder Singh. Incidentally, Maninder was not even born when Venkat had made his Test debut. During the 1970-71 tour to the Caribbean, Venkat had pocketed a five wicket haul and this had prompted the recall. As always, Venkat bowled well, but could not take many wickets. Once back in India, he got interested in umpiring and today is one of the most busy ICC umpires. Getty Images
