David Hussey has said he is desperate to play Test cricket for Australia and believes his age shouldn't be a major hitch blocking his selection in the team following his elder brother, Michael's retirement from international cricket after the Sydney Test against Sri Lanka.

Australian coach Mickey Arthur has opened the door for the 35-year-old when he declared that the selection ground rules have changed, News.com.au reports.

Hussey said he hasn't got many opportunities to play Test cricket and would like to cement his place in the team in place of elder brother, Michael, although he admits he wouldn't be able to match his elder brother's capabilities.

Hussey said captain Michael Clarke has always told him that age is not any barrier for making a case for yourself in the Test team as far as you are scoring good runs.

The part time off spinner said he has been around for quite a long time to know what it takes to be a successful Test cricketer.
