Day 4: Phelps wins ninth career gold
Michael Phelps (seen here) swam to within one victory of becoming the greatest Olympian of all time on Tuesday as America collected four more golds at the Beijing Games.

The unstoppable 23-year-old swimmer eased to his third title of these Games in the 200 metres freestyle to join Olympic icons Paavo Nurmi, Carl Lewis, Mark Spitz and Larysa Latynina as a nine-time gold medal winner.
