The father of Reeva Steenkamp's best friend, who considered himself as a second 'doting' father of Steenkamp, has blamed himself for her death at the hands of her Paralympic star boyfriend Oscar Pistorius.
Cecil Myers, who had to identify Steenkamp's body after she was shot on Valentine's Day at Pistorius' home, said that Steenkamp was shot because he failed to warn her about a perceived dark side to Pistorius' character, New York Daily News reports.
Myers said that he had raised red flags early in the couple's relationship and added that there is a dark side to Pistorius, who was moody, hasty and very impatient.
Skeptical of Pistorius' claims that the shooting was an accident, Myers said that Pistorius may have shot once by accident, but added that shooting four times seemed a deliberate attempt to kill Steenkamp.
Myers also said that whatever happened to Pistorius, his conscience will prove to be his making.
Steenkamp had been part of the Myers family for six years because of her close friendship with Gina, one of Myers' two daughters, the report added. (ANI)
