Norway striker John Carew scored his first goal of the season when he sent the ball crashing into the net in the 14th minute at Villa Park after Everton failed to deal with a high cross. The home side doubled their lead when Gabriel Agbonlahor beat the offside trap and made no mistake after an hour.
