Finn says Strauss' tour planning 'put England on road to success in Indian tour'

Former England skipper Andrew Strauss' legacy is already being felt in the Three Lions' squad after fast bowler Steve Finn admitted their successful Indian winter so far had "been coming".

The retired Strauss, though, is no longer a part of the England set-up, but his fingerprints are all over their current form in India, which has the home side staring down the barrel of a series defeat.

"We've felt as a team that it's been coming. When we got beaten 3-0 in Dubai, it was an eye--opener," the Daily Mirror quoted Finn, who was brought back to the England line-up for third test, as saying.

According to the paper, it is easy to forget the sorry state that the England team was in when Strauss took over as captain with a dressing room divided following a terrorism-affected tour to India and a sacked coach.

His main aim was to change the team environment and get everyone pulling in the same direction, and bar the Kevin Pietersen hiccup this year, all of which fell in place eventually, Finn said.

"Since then, we've worked very hard on our games to be able to adapt to these conditions in the subcontinent and it is now paying dividends with results," Finn said.

"We have to keep working and looking to get better. That is the great thing about this England side," he added. (ANI)
