French club Marseille chief Jose Anigo has branded England football's bad boy Joey Barton as a role model for players hours after the Queens Park Ranger midfielder abused former team mate Dietar Hamman on Twitter.

Anigo lauded Barton's professional attitude, saying every young French player can learn a lot from the former Manchester City midfielder, the Daily Mirror reports.

Anigo also said they would like to talk to QPR over Barton's loan extension to one more season since the former Newcastle United midfielder is in love with the city.

The Marseille boss added what Barton represents out on the pitch pleases club's fans since he is very combative and he gives a lot.

QPR loaned Barton out to Marseille after the FA as punishment hit him with a 12-match ban for his sending off in the final game of last season against Manchester City.

The former City and Newcastle midfielder received the hefty suspension after initially felling Carlos Tevez with a swinging arm, then kicking Sergio Aguero before aiming a head-butt at Vincent Kompany, all in a matter of moments.

QPR were fighting to avoid relegation and their 10 men ended up losing the match, which meant City pipped Manchester United to the title on goal difference. (ANI)
