Back in February, Sahara India supremo Subrata Roy dropped a bombshell on the morning of the IPL auction by withdrawing from the ownership of the Pune Warriors and the sponsorship of the Indian cricket team.
"We really feel such one-sided emotional relationship cannot be dragged any further," announced Sahara in a press release.
But they were forced to do just that after the BCCI called their bluff.
The BCCI magnanimously restored Pune's auction purse of $1.6 million but with all the most sought after players already snapped up, it was not especially useful.
Pune duly finished rock-bottom in IPL V. The moral of the story? Do not dare to take on the BCCI.
