David Hussey is helping young Australian players on how to tackle Sri Lankan pace wizard and his Melbourne Stars teammate Lasith Malinga, who is currently in the form of his life, during their upcoming one-day series, starting this Friday at the MCG.
The Stars teammates have spent more than a month together, giving Hussey a special insight into the Sri Lankan superstar's bag of tricks, News.com.au reports.
Hussey said a player needs purely focus on Malinga's three different balls i.e. a very fast bumper, very good yorker, which he executes every time, and his slower ball.
Hussey added then the player should get his individual plans ready to go and try to nullify Malinga's game plan.
The veteran added that if the Australian batsmen take him out of the game, it goes a long way for them to actually winning the game.
Hussey said Malinga would warrant extra homework for his teammates as he is in the form of his life.
Hussey added that its always exciting because everyone wants to play against the best bowlers in the world and it's a great opportunity for the young Australian batsmen to face him, adding that if a player does well against a quality bowler like Malinga, it gives not only your team a lot of confidence, but also to yourself.
