Having played just one Twenty20 international before the IPL Abdulla was hardly known outside South Africa when IPL II commenced. But the Johannesburg-born left-arm fast medium bowler has made the cricketing world sit up and take notice with some brilliant spells. At the moment of writing he has taken 14 wickets from nine matches helping King's XI Punjab to stay in the hunt for a semifinal spot.
His average (17.21) and strike rate (12) are impressive but less so is his economy rate (8.60). Put that down to inexperience but Abdulla has the potential to be a match winner proof being two four-wicket hauls in the competition. Look out for him to make a big splash in the Twenty20 World Cup.
