There are innumerable victories that the Indian team has notched up ahead of their famous win in the Chennai Test, which has witnessed the most successful chase on Indian soil.
Narrowing the list down to the ten most memorable presents a difficult task.
After all, there are many factors to be considered before terming a triumph as truly great or significant.
The opposition is one. The more formidable the opposition, the more outstanding is the victory.
Alien wicket and weather conditions are another and that is why away wins are more significant than those notched up at home.
Then comes the manner in which the victory is achieved against odds – coming back strongly into the game and overcoming injuries to key players for example.
One must also not lose track of the historic aspect or a breakthrough triumph. And if it is the kind of victory that is only rarely achieved in Test cricket, then this becomes a very important factor in analysing its greatness. We present here Partab Ramchand’s list of ten greatest Test triumphs in Indian cricket in chronological order.
