India vs Sri Lanka: Turning point and top performers

It was always going to be tough chasing a victory target of 275 and the Indians seemed up against it when Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar were back in the pavilion with just 31 runs on the board. The ship was steadied by a third wicket partnership of 83 runs between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli but when the latter gave Tillakaratne Dilshan a return catch, the momentum appeared to shift again towards Sri Lanka.

One expected Yuvraj Singh to come in next but it was MS Dhoni who took up the challenge and walked to the middle to join Gambhir. The Indians required almost six an over at this stage and the fate of the match - and yes, the World Cup - hung in the balance. Gambhir continued to stroke the ball fluently but Dhoni took some time to settle down.
