Shahid Afridi (Pak) in 2004-05
Shahid Afridi`s 100 off 45 balls, including nine sixes and 10 fours, was eight balls short of his own world record 37-ball effort against Sri Lanka in Nairobi in 1996, and equal to West Indian Brian Lara`s knock against Bangladesh at Dhaka in 1999. The 25-year-old completed his half-century off 20 balls, the seventh fastest of all time. He has hit 18-ball fifties twice before in his career. He got to his fourth one-day 100 with a pulled four off Harbhajan Singh but was bowled next ball while trying to play his first genuine forward defensive shot of the innings. Afridi also completed 200 sixes during his exciting ODI career in the blitzkrieg. The dashing Afridi stole the limelight with some breathtaking strokes to give the visitors an unassailable 3-2 lead in the series with the last tie to be played in Delhi on Sunday.GettyImages
