Nicole Scherzinger has hit back at Cheryl Cole for calling their first meeting "awkward."
In her autobiography, Cole explained how she was left cringing after the former Pussycat Doll sang her track 'Promise This' back to her.
Not impressed with the way the Girls Aloud singer remembers their encounter Scherzinger, 34, blasted Cole for making her look bad.
Scherzinger, who is dating F1 ace Lewis Hamilton, admitted that she had not had a chance to read Cole's book but wasn't sure what to "believe."
She said that she had seen the quotes and felt the whole thing was "silly."
"I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt and hope that she would only have spoken highly of me because I've not spoken poorly of her," the Daily Mail quoted her as telling Fabulous Magazine.
However upset at the fact Cole had failed to speak well of her, Scherzinger went on to explain what really happened.
Snapping back, she said: "No. No. The story is I met her once at The X Factor and I wanted to make her feel good. I said I'd heard her song on the radio and I think I sang the words 'promise this'. But I really don't know any lyrics after that."
"And then that is made out to be something else and I don't understand why. I don't understand why anybody would do that. It's been blown out of proportion and it's silly," she added. (ANI)
