An advertisement for sports giant Nike that featured murder-accused Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius had been removed from the personal website of the sprinter, after Pistorius was charged with shooting his girlfriend dead on Thursday.

The ad showed the sprinter with the line 'I am the bullet in the chamber'.

Nike spokeswoman Seruscka Naidoo said that she was aware that the ad had been removed, but added that the website is under the ownership of the athlete instead of Nike, reports.

Refusing to comment on the continuation of their sponsorship deal with the accused Pistorius, Naidoo said that investigating the incident is more important than a sponsorship, and expressed condolences with the bereaved families and the concerned persons.

Pistorius has been taken into police custody for accidentally shooting and killing a woman in his home, apparently his girlfriend, who has been named in various media reports as model and law graduate Reeva Steenkamp. (ANI)
