Brad Haddin will be going for the Ashes and possibly also for the India tour as a back-up for Australia's No.1 wicketkeeper Matthew Wade.

Team coach Mickey Arthur made it clear that Haddin was 'the clear back-up to Wade for the 12 months ahead'.

According to news.com.au, Haddin is one of 21 players being considered for the four-Test tour to India, which is starting in February.

The added bonus for Haddin is there's every chance he could play alongside Wade in Tests operating as a specialist batsman, the report said.

Haddin has played 43 Tests, and has an average of 67 with the bat. He was forced out of last year's tour to the West Indies after his daughter was diagnosed with cancer.

Haddin's first trip to England was as Adam Gilchrist's back-up, and then as the No.1 keeper and now in July he will be acting as a back-up to Wade. (ANI)
