India overcame a blistering century by Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq to score a thrilling five-run victory in the first one-day international in Karachi on Sunday. Virender Sehwag hit a quickfire 79 off 57 balls as India, given first strike in perfect batting conditions, recorded their highest one-day total against Pakistan. Fittingly for such an important game, it all came down to the last ball, with Pakistan needing a six to win. Moin Khan could only give India a simple catch to end the game. In the end one could say that it was Pakistan`s own mistake that led to its undoing. Their bowlers sent 20 no-balls and 10 wides and that meant the difference between winning and losing.
