Pakistan have set India a gettable target of 251 in the second one-day international being played at Kolkata's Eden Gardens.
Pakistan could have reached a higher total, riding on opener Nasir Jamshed's second consecutive century in the series, but suffered an inexplicable middle-order collapse after being 197 for three at the end of the 39th over.
Pakistan got off to a brilliant start with openers Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez adding 141 for the first-wicket. Thereafter it was a parade of players coming to the crease and going back in a hurry.
Jamshed continued his good run with the bat and slammed a fluent 106 that included 12 fours and two sixes, while Hafeez struck a brisk 76 to help Pakistan begin their innings on a strong note.
Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for 41, while fast bowler Ishant Sharma bagged 3-34.
India had earlier won the toss and elected to field first. (ANI)
