Defending champions Deccan Chargers roared to a comfortable 31-run victory against the Chennai Super Kings in Chennai after posting a huge total of 190 for four in 20 overs, thanks to a fine partnership between Andrew Symonds and Herschelle Gibbs. In response, Chennai were never in the hunt after a triple strike from Chaminda Vaas and the hosts meandered to a disappointing 159/9.
