Reportedly, another Indian Messi superfan has killed himself after France knocked out Argentina from the World Cup.
Monotosh Halder, a resident of Habibpur in West Bengal's Malda district, is reported to have taken his life after Messi's Argentina were defeated 4-3 by France on June 30.
Media reports say that the 20-year-old was heartbroken after Argentina lost, and skipped dinner to sleep that night.
The following morning, there was no response when his family tried to open his bedroom door.
When police were called, the officers forced the door and Halder's body was found in his bedroom.
According to Goal.com, his father, Mongol Halder said, "My son had no illness. He was an Argentina fan and every day he used to remain glued to the TV since the World Cup had started."
"He was distraught after Argentina's loss to France. But we never thought he would do something like this," added Mongol Halder.
Goal.com further quoted Malda Police saying, "We are investigating the case. It seems that he has killed himself since Argentina lost in the World Cup."
This is the second death in India after another Messi fan in Kerala left a note before jumping in a river following Argentina's loss to Croatia.
