Preview: Kolkata, Mumbai square off in dead rubber

emphatic win, Ganguly flourish leads, emphatic win over Royals

Sachin Tendulkar will want his men to have some useful practice before the semi-final

It took until match 56 of the third edition of the tournament to come and finally it has - a dead rubber. Today's match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Mumbai Indians will have no consequence on the semi-finals unless KKR beat Mumbai by a margin so massive that their negative run rate can be reversed to become higher than Bangalore's 0.219.

For all practical purposes then, this match will serve as practice for Mumbai who will want to enter the semis on a winning note and it will give KKR the opportunity to show their fans one last bit of love at Eden Gardens before bowing out at the league stage for the third tournament in a row.
