Prior fears change in KP's 'extrovert' approach could harm England prospects

England wicketkeeper Mat Prior has said Kevin Pietersen should not change from being their star extrovert on the pitch to a shy kind of player, as it can harm their chances to get good results during the India series.

Prior said the England dressing room wouldn't like Pietersen to change his ways much since that is what makes him a special player.

"We wouldn't want KP to change too much because it is how he is that makes him special as a player," the Telegraph quoted Prior, as saying.

"If Kev suddenly came as this shy, introverted character I would be more worried to be honest with you," he added.

"I want Kev to go out and express himself as he does," he said.

Prior further added: "You only have to walk around India and see these guys who have watched him play in the Indian Premier League. They can't wait to watch him bat and we can't either. I'm glad he's come back the same KP as he was."

England's batting tactics for this series revolve around a stoic top three who will look to bat for long periods, followed by risk-takers like Pietersen and Prior, who will put the bowlers under pressure by attacking them, and Ian Bell along with Samit Patel will flit between the two roles depending on the situation.

England will play India in the first Test match at Ahmedabad on Thursday. (ANI)
