Australian all rounder Shane Watson has told selectors that he wants to dump bowling to concentrate on his batting to revive his stumbling Test career marred by injuries.

Coach Mickey Arthur made it clear that when Watson recovers from his calf injury he will return to the top of the order in the One-Day team, where he has dominated for some time now.

Arthur confirmed that Watson returning to open in Test cricket was also a possibility, news.com.au reports.

He also believes that Watson can also bat at No.4 after he scored 83 runs in Melbourne during the second Test against Sri Lanka.

According to the report, how Australia can win this year's Champions Trophy, next year's World Twenty20 and the 2015 World Cup without Watson playing as an all-rounder is not clear.

Arthur said that at the moment Watson wants to come back as a batsman.

He added that Watson absolutely loved bowling and still wants to bowl, but his primary focus now was to make the team as an out-and-out batsman, the report said.

Losing Watson has unbalanced the Australian team, playing four fast bowlers and spinner Nathan Lyon while including just five batsmen and using wicketkeeper Matthew Wade at No.6 in Sydney. (ANI)
