Soccer moments in 2010

Despite the controversy surrounding the infamous Vuvuzela, the 2010 Football World Cup hosted in South Africa was full of exciting and thrilling games. It was the 19th edition of the tournament and the matches were played in ten stadiums in nine cities around the country.

In the final played at the Soccer City stadium, Johannesburg, Spain, the European champions, defeated third-time finalists the Netherlands 1-0 after extra time, with Andres Iniesta's goal in the 116th minute giving Spain their first world title. Thanks to Iniesta, the World Cup wasn't decided by a penalty shoot out. Host nation South Africa, 2006 world champions Italy and 2006 runners-up France were eliminated in the first round of the tournament.
