Sports Ministry vs NSFs
It all started when the Delhi High Court directed the Centre to implement the National Sports Policy.
According to the policy, a person above 70 can't contest elections for National Sports Federations (NSFs). It also pruned the tenure of the NSF presidents to 12 years and that of the secretary and treasurer to a maximum of two consecutive terms of four years.
Many office bearers of NSFs went up in arms to oppose the diktat, asking why only sports bodies were being singled out when there is no limitation of age for the country's PM, MPs, MLAs and CMs.
