With seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher set to make a comeback at the age of 40 for Ferrari at the European Grand Prix on August 23 in Valencia, we take a look at some of the former greats who have had another shot at more success with mixed results.
Lance Armstrong (Cycling)
The seven-time Tour de France champion couldn't resist another stint at the greatest cycling race in the world and announced his return to the sport last year at the age of 37. In this year's edition he finished a commendable third behind his Astana teammate Alberto Contador.
The Texan and the Spaniard then were involved in less than complimentary words with Armstrong acidly remarking 'there is no I in team'. Next year's race promises to be an even greater spectacle for the cycling fans.
