Tamara Ecclestone's former fiance is facing the prospect of being jailed after being found guilty of blackmailing the socialite for 200,000 dollars.

Derek Rose, 33, went out with the Formula One heiress in 2002, when she was 17.

In November 2011, Ecclestone received an email saying that Rose had been offered 200,000 dollars to sell his story, despite no newspaper having made such an offer, the Mirror reported.

The court heard the email had "pernicious" implications and was sent to elicit money from the 28-year-old model, and mentioned a "a non-release fee" and confidentiality contract.

Rose, of Camden, held his head in his hands and cried as the jury of seven men and four women delivered the guilty verdict.

Judge Andrew Goymer warned Rose that he will be facing an "inevitable prison sentence" when he returns to Southwark Crown Court on Tuesday.

Rose, who denied blackmailing Ecclestone, was included in an email mentioning the possibility of discussing "a non-release fee" and signing a confidentiality contract.

Jakir Uddin, 20, will be facing a retrial after the jury failed to reach a verdict on the same blackmail charge against him.

The blackmail arose from an email sent on November 16, 2011, after Ecclestone had starred in 'Billion Dollar Girl,' a reality TV programme exploring her life as a rich youngster. (ANI)
