Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has said Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in football right now, but added Barcelona's Lionel Messi is the world's best player by miles.
The Portugal ace is expected to be the star of the show in the Group D clash at the Etihad Stadium, with Roberto Mancini's men needing a win to keep alive their slim hopes of qualification.
Ronaldo has been a sensation since leaving Manchester United to join Madrid in 2009 for 80 million pounds, plundering 124 goals in 113 games in Spain.
The debate about who is the greatest player in the world continues to rage, with opinions divided between Ronaldo and Messi.
"Cristiano is one of the best players in the world and he will play in this game the way he always does. He does not seem to feel pressure. We will have to keep a special eye on him," the Daily Star quoted Tevez, as saying.
"I think that you have got to try and make sure he doesn't get in behind you. Once he gets a chance to run at you, he is very dangerous and he strikes the ball well too, so you have to try and stop him further up the field," he added.
"I think it is only right if Cristiano does believe he is the best in the world. Any guy who gets 37 to 40 goals a season has a right to believe that, but if you push me, I am always going to go on the side of Messi," he said.
City must beat Madrid and Borussia Dortmund away next month, and hope other results help them, to stay in the competition. (ANI)
