Goes to: Venky’s, the owners of relegated club Blackburn
It’s not often that Indian football hits big headlines! So when Blackburn, owned by Pune-based chicken makers Venky’s, got relegated (and further got mired in financial controversy), there was much sqwaking. Which culminated, of course, in a chicken released on to the pitch wearing the Blackburn uniform.
So essentially, the year’s most iconic moment in the largest football league in the world was, indeed, because of India. Now, doesn’t that make you want to show a finger to that sub-160 FIFA ranking and hold your head up high?
