The batsmen who enjoyed their Indian sojourn

Hashim Amla, the South African cricketer of Indian origin, has proved to be a nemesis for Indian bowlers in the current series. Partab Ramchand rewinds back to find out the batsmen who enjoyed a successful run in India:

Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla just loves batting on Indian pitches. An incredible average of 490 in the two-Test series for the same number of runs - including an unbeaten double century followed by a hundred in each innings - is something straight out of fiction books.

This comes on top of a successful outing in India two years ago when he scored 307 runs in three Tests including a century. Incidentally, it was against India at Kolkata in 2004 that Amla made his Test debut which for a change was not successful - he was restricted to scores of 24 and two.

Still, his tally of 823 runs from six Tests with a double century and three hundreds and an average of 102.87, makes him one of the most successful batsmen to visit India.
