Cheryl Cole's boyfriend Tre Holloway is on the verge of popping the question after asking her dad for permission to marry her.

American dancer Holloway phoned the former X Factor judge's dad last week, and got the answer he wanted, the Mirror reported.

Now pals of the couple say they are overjoyed Cole, 29, has found the right man after her heartbreak over cheating ex-husband Ashley.

Holloway, 27, is now busy creating the perfect engagement ring, which will include her birthstone, pearl.

Acoording to a pal of the Girls Aloud star, Cole has always said that although Ashley's 100,000-pound ring was the most expensive jewellery she'd ever owned, she'd rather have had a 100-pound one and a happy marriage.

"Tre and her have been discussing marriage for the past couple of months now. They know they want to be together and she's desperate to start a family - especially as she turns 30 this year," the friend said.

Cole told Holloway over Christmas that she was starting to think about marrying again, something she never thought she'd contemplate after her divorce from Ashley, the friend said.

She made it clear that she doesn't want to rush into anything, but she needed to know they both wanted the same things, the friend added.

Sources said that Holloway's mind was made up after Cole met his mum in New York and she told him the singer was "his perfect girl".

He decided to follow tradition and call her dad Garry to ask for his -permission to marry her.

Garry was very surprised by his call and almost said no. He didn't know if she was ready and wanted to protect her from getting hurt again.

But he decided to give Holloway his permission and asked to just make sure he was 100 percent sure when he proposed.

He warned him that she couldn't take another heartbreak and said there was nothing wrong with waiting a bit longer. (ANI)
