A British newspaper that had lost a defamation case for publishing doping allegations against Lance Armstrong is set sue the banned cyclist for more than 1.5 million pounds.

The Sunday Times paid Armstrong 300 000 pounds in 2006 to settle a case after it reprinted claims from a book in 2004 that he took performance-enhancing drugs, Sport24 reports.

But this year, the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) found that Armstrong led a massive doping program on his teams, and the American was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned from cycling for life, it added.

The Sunday Times announced in an article in its latest edition that it has issued legal papers against Armstrong, the paper said.

The paper, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp also said its total claim against Armstrong, is likely to exceed one million pounds, it concluded. (ANI)
