'Unfazed' Pattinson says injury setbacks 'part and parcel' of career

Young fast bowler James Pattinson has downplayed his fourth breakdown this year, saying injuries are part and parcel of a fast bowler's career.

Pattinson injured his side bowling muscle on Saturday bowling just his 10th over, but a marathon 53 overs in the first Test at the Gabba appeared to take a toll in Adelaide.

Pattinson succumbed to a foot stress fracture in the second Test against India last January, back strain in the second Test against West Indies at Port of Spain, abdominal tear in the one-day series against England before going bust against South Africa here.

"I was having trouble breathing, it felt like someone was stabbing me in the side so as soon as I felt that it was straight off," News.com.au quoted Pattinson, as saying.

Pattinson believes he can rebound for a fifth time after another summer ruined by injury but accepts his body is still developing.

"One thing I have on my side is age, I am just 22 so I am happy with the way I am going after seven Tests," Pattinson said.

"All the physios who are looking after me and doing a great job say it is not until I am about 26 that my body will mature. I will have a few setbacks so it is about how I go about recovering from them," he added. (ANI)
