With Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders already qualifying for the play-offs, Mumbai Indians join them as the third team, leaving the last spot to a fight between the Royal Challengers and Chennai Super Kings.
Rajasthan Royals earlier joined Pune Warriors and Deccan Chargers among the teams to have been out of contention for the play-offs in the IPL 2012.
Chennai Super Kings - 17 points - With their loss against Kings XI Punjab, the defending champions are almost out of the play-offs but still have a slight chance and will have to depend on Royal Challengers to lose against the Deccan Chargers to make it to the play-offs.
Mumbai Indians - 18 points - 1 match more - Mumbai Indians are now through to the play-offs due to Kings XI Punjab's loss to the Delhi Daredevils. They play Rajasthan Royals next, the last of the league matches, which would ideally be a practice game for them ahead of the play-offs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore - 17 points - 1 match more - Royal Challengers have raised their hopes of making it to the play-off stages with their win over Delhi Daredevils. They have one more match against Deccan Chargers and a win would secure their place in the play-offs.
