In the 1980s and 1990s, the Indo-Pak rivalry was probably the greatest in world cricket. It was a tragedy that they never met in the first four editions of the World Cup. But that was set right when they met in each of the next four editions, with all the matches going India's way.

1992: Sachin starts a glorious trend

India had a glorious ODI tournament run from 1983-85, winning the World Cup, mini WC, Asia Cup and Sharjah Cup. In the 1986 Sharjah final Javed Miandad hit a six off a Chetan Sharma full toss off the very last ball of the innings. India lost, its psyche got scarred and Pakistan always had the upper hand for years after that.
