Blues defender Ashley Cole was forced to serve dinner at a hotel as a 'punishment', where his team had dropped in for a meal, for his poor performance during a team-bonding bowling session in Yokohama, Japan, teammate Gary Cahill has revealed.

The team are about in Japan for their semi-final clash against Mexican team Monterrey.

The left-back, who has failed to score in 99 appearances for England, proved strikes were not his strength at another sport.

"It wasn't about who won, it was about who lost in our group, and it was Ashley. There were a few strikes, the standard was all right, actually. Everyone played, the manager, staff," the Daily Mirror quoted Cole, as saying.

According to the report, the penalty for Cole poor show was being forced to wait on his team-mates as they had dinner following their alley antics.

"Ashley's forfeit was to serve -dinner at the hotel. There was about six of us and he was waiting on us. He's a better left-back than a waiter! The only tip was, 'don't do it again'," Cahill said.

"We're not here on holiday, we're here for a reason, to prepare for the game. But we had a bit of down time and it was good to get out for an hour, instead of going stir crazy in the hotel," he added. (ANI)
