India's stand-in skipper was excellent in the tournament and by winning the trophy has emerged as a serious contender to challenge Virat Kohli for captaincy in the limited overs format. Sharma made a century and a fifty in both the games against Pakistan. He also scored a crucial 48 in the final which gave India a solid start. His experience captaining Mumbai Indians helped him immensely during the tournament. With his ability to remain calm during crunch moments, many feel he takes after former India captain MS Dhoni.
