Fifth seed South African Kevin Anderson has crashed out of the Australian Open after a four-set loss to USA's Frances Tiafoe in the second round.
The two-time Grand Slam finalist Kevin Anderson let a 6-4, 3-0 lead slip away and Tiafoe made a superb comeback to eventually win the second set 6-4. The American, who beat India's Prajnesh Gunneswaran in the first round, continued the good work and won the next two sets 6-4, 7-5.
Anderson, who had won the Tata Open Maharashtra ATP event in Pune in early January, was the runner-up at Wimbledon last year and at the US Open in 2017. He had won all three previous matchups against the 39th-ranked Tiafoe, who is now into the third round at a major for the second time.
