Welsh star Gareth Bale has been recognised as the most valuable player in the Premier League after being nominated for the Team of 2011 in a poll by Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Tottenham winger Bale was the only player from the English game to feature in a vote dominated by players from European champions Barcelona and current La Liga leaders Real Madrid, Express.co.uk reports.
"The fact it's voted for by fans across Europe makes it a special honour," Bale, 22, said.
Bale's performances over the past 12 months earned him the nod ahead of rivals such as Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, who scored 35 goals in the last calendar year. (ANI)
