David Beckham will not be joining Paris Saint Germain and will remain in Los Angeles, the big-spending Ligue 1 football club said on Tuesday.
"It has been confirmed," a PSG source told Reuters when asked whether the possible transfer had been ruled out, adding that the club would release a statement later on Tuesday.
The former England captain had been linked with a possible move to the Qatar-backed Ligue 1 pacesetters last month given that his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy ran out on December 31.
"David Beckham is in Los Angeles and he's going to stay over there," PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi told French radio station RMC.
British media quoted PSG sporting director Leonardo as saying Beckham's decision was due to family reasons.
"It's over. It's a shame. But the welfare of his family in Los Angeles, the wish not to change everything in his life, weighed heavily," said the former Brazilian international.
