England batsman Ravi Bopara is ready to utilize the one-day series against the West Indies and Australia, starting on Saturday, as a platform to impress the selectors, and make a return to the Test team.
Bopara said he wants to perform well in the one-day series against the West Indies and Australia.
With Kevin Pietersen gone, Bopara will be a central figure in England's bid to overturn the power hitters from the Windies in a three match Natwest series.
"It would be great if I could score heavily in this series and the Australian series that follows. It would put me in a good place. That would be ideal and I would love to be playing Test cricket for England again," The Daily Mirror quoted Bopara, as saying.
"There are no guarantees, I've got to prove myself and score runs. My one-day performances definitely count more. What I do here is in front of the selectors eyes and in front of the coach, the captain and the rest of the players," he added.
"What I do here is more important in terms of the form they will see me in and other stuff. The bowling, the attitude and everything. It is much more important what I do here," he said.
