English front-runner Arsenal is frantically trying to restore morale in time for its Champions League game against defending champion AC Milan on Wednesday.

The Gunners are still reeling from Saturday's 4-0 loss at Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

"I never felt we were really in the game, and afterwards that can make you crazy," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "The targets are so big for us that you don't feel sorry for yourself. We have a massive game in front of us on Wednesday night and I feel the immensity of the game makes you forget your disappointment."

After losing in the 2006 final to FC Barcelona and exiting in the second round last season, Arsenal is looking to win the Champions League to justify the hype.

"All of us are disappointed in the way that we played," Arsenal midfielder Gilberto said. "But we will come back even stronger in the next game. We don't want to let this opportunity slip by.

"We must do it if we want to achieve something because this group is very ambitious to win a trophy this season."

Both sides have goalkeeping concerns for the match at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal's Manuel Almunia is in doubt with a thumb injury, meaning Jens Lehmann could stay in goal.

AC Milan has bigger issues, with Zeljko Kalac and Dida in doubt. Kalac dislocated a finger on his right hand in training on Sunday, while Dida has a back injury.

If both are out, third-choice Valerio Fiori could start, but he hasn't played a competitive match since December 2003.

Captain Paolo Maldini played in his 1,000th match with Milan in a 0-0 draw with Siena on Saturday.

"Now we've got Arsenal awaiting us," Maldini said. "But we're the defending champions. We'll get some players back and the atmosphere that will await us will surely be fantastic."

Also on Wednesday, Lyon welcomes Manchester United, FC Barcelona travels to Celtic and Fenerbahce hosts Sevilla.

On Tuesday, it was: Schalke vs. FC Porto; AS Roma vs. Real Madrid; Olympiakos vs. Chelsea; and Liverpool vs. Inter Milan.

Manchester United rested Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Owen Hargreaves from the team that beat Arsenal.

"The likes of Ryan and Paul Scholes - players with great experience - will play in Lyon on Wednesday," United manager Alex Ferguson said. "They'll be important for us."

Scholes was a late substitute in Saturday's win, which struck a psychological blow on the English Premier League leaders in the title race, where Arsenal leads United by five points.

Lyon also rested players in its French league game on Saturday, leaving out forward Fred and using striker Karim Benzema and midfielder Jeremy Toulalan only as late substitutes in a 1-0 loss to Le Mans.

That cut Lyon's lead at the top of the standings to one point.

Barcelona could field the "Fantastic Four" in Glasgow - Samuel Eto'o, Thierry Henry, Lionel Messi and Ronaldinho - for the first time. Injuries and Eto'o's African Cup of Nations commitments have prevented the four from playing together so far this season.

Barcelona can also call on midfielder Andres Iniesta, who was rested from the 2-1 win over Zaragoza in the Spanish league on Saturday.

"Things are looking good," Barcelona captain Carles Puyol said. "Now we have to keep going and think about Wednesday when we have a really important match."

Celtic warmed up with a 3-0 win over Hearts on Saturday - its eighth consecutive Scottish Premier League victory.

For Fenerbahce or Sevilla it's the first time either team has reached the knockout round of the Champions League. The Turkish club made it for the first time in five attempts, while Sevilla is in its debut season in the competition after winning consecutive UEFA Cup titles.

"Sevilla goes to Turkey with only one thing in mind, to win," Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido said. "In a game of this magnitude, to score early, and often, is the key to victory.

"We know our strengths and weaknesses in this game, and we are prepared for it." Fenerbahce has considerable experience in its team and beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the group stage.

Coached by Zico, the squad includes former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos, former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman and Ghana striker Stephen Appiah, who missed the African Cup with injury.
