Chelsea keep pressure on United after narrow win

London: Chelsea trimmed Manchester United's lead at the top of the Premier League to five points on Sunday with a patchy 1-0 defeat of Middlesbrough.

Ricardo Carvalho's header inside the opening five minutes at Stamford Bridge gave Chelsea the perfect start but they were guilty of not killing the game as Shaun Wright-Phillips twice wasted good chances.
