Chennai have had a tough time since finishing the 2013 edition of the Indian T20 League as the eventual runners-up. After the fall out of the spot-fixing episode in which four players were caught on camera on charges of bringing disrepute to the game, Gurunath Meiyappan, the son of the president-in-exile of the BCCI, Mr. N Srinivasan found himself under the scanner of the authorities after being caught betting on some of his own franchise matches.
For a team that prides itself to be a formidable force on the field, the revelations threatened not just to disrupt the unity in the team but also brought the team to the brink of being thrown out of the League.
On the other hand, the absence of Indian T20 teams such as Bangalore and Delhi have allowed South African T20 runners-up, Titans to bolster their squad with regulars such as AB de Villiers and Morne Morkel all set to feature for them. While Chennai will be seeking redemption, Titans, on the other hand will seek their first piece of international silverware.
