Cricket Australia is expected to secure a five-year lucrative broadcast deal worth 500 million dollars that will be split between Nine and Fox Sports, according to a report.

The current deal expires at the end of this summer, and while there have been early talks between high-ranking officials and TV executives, negotiations are expected to ramp up in January.

While Nine and Fox Sports' contract is expected to retain international fixtures and the Big Bash League respectively after the two networks stitched up the five-year, 1 billion dollar rugby league deal earlier in August, Channel 10 has expressed interest in coming on board, News.com.au reports.

"We're interested in the cricket rights," Ten's head of sport David Barham said.

According to the report, however, Ten is in financial strife and experienced a raft of cutbacks and redundancies across the network in recent weeks, despite making a major bid for rugby league a few months ago.

Ten also outlaid a reported 2.5 million dollars a year to secure Wallabies games for the next three years, the report said. (ANI)
